Why We Built This Site
Illinois records are split by purpose. The Hamilton County sheriff creates or holds many local arrest, incident, warrant, and custody records. The Circuit Clerk maintains the criminal case file and its disposition. The Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification is the central criminal-history repository, while state custody records belong to the Illinois Department of Corrections and registry information comes from the Illinois Sex Offender Registry. This site organizes the official contacts, request routes, search tools, and documented fees for those separate systems.
What You Will Find Here

- Official check steps: how Illinois name-based conviction checks and fingerprint Access and Review requests work
- Agency contacts: where to reach the sheriff, Circuit Clerk, and state record systems
- Record-clearing orientation: where Illinois expungement and sealing forms begin and where petitions are filed
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site with no connection to an Illinois court, sheriff's office, police department, or state agency. Those limits matter:
- We cannot run an official background check or pull a criminal record for anyone
- We cannot submit expungement, sealing, or public-record requests for you
- We cannot issue certified copies of any criminal record, court document, or rap sheet
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific charge or case applies to you
- We cannot promise that every published fee, address, hour, or phone number remains current
Only the sheriff, court, Illinois State Police, or other issuing agency can supply an official record. The document must come from its custodian.
Search Partners
Some pages contain search tools operated by outside providers. Those providers control their services, prices, and results. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may produce a referral fee that supports this site. We do not set the provider's price or decide what its results contain.
