Use the custodian that matches the Hamilton County record:
- Court case files: contact the Hamilton County Circuit Clerk at the courthouse
- Criminal history and personal record review: use the Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification
- Arrest, booking, warrant, and jail records: contact the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office
- Public conviction checks: follow the Illinois State Police UCIA instructions; CHIRP access may require an eligible User Agreement
- Police reports and incident records: contact the agency that wrote the report
- Expungement and sealing: obtain the approved Illinois forms and file in the court that handled the case

The Illinois Sheriffs' Association lists 110 South Jackson Street, so call before traveling and confirm the correct entrance.
